China Builds Brawn in Global Smart Grid Market

Is China flexing its muscles in the smart grid sector – Massing intensity for the same sort of all-out global smack down that it’s achieved in the solar energy segment of the energy industry?

According to a new report from Boulder, Colorado-based Pike Research (News - Alert), 2011 was a huge year for smart grid deployments, as global full-year shipments of smart meters reached nearly 73 million endpoints. Deployments in China drove most of this annual volume (71 percent), as the Asian juggernaut continued to flesh out its electrical infrastructure.
