Conexiant Announces their Fully Managed Secure PBX Server, PBX.fm, with FreePBX Software

By David GitongaTMCnet Contributing Writer

Conexiant Telecom has announced that it has launched its fully-managed PBX (News - Alert) servers that run the popular FreePBX software, PBX.fm. PBX.fm is available to resellers and VARs on a wholesale price. Hosted software telephone services have been in high demand and Conexiant’s offering will be a great solution for SMBs.

These full-redundant and high capacity server clusters will have direct connections to the high quality voice network that Conexiant provides and will be housed in secure datacenters. All these resources are then secured by being placed behind a firewall in addition to other security add-ons that have been put in place. This secure multi-core strategy makes the hosted PBX server reliable.

Conexiant is planning to install a FreePBX cluster at their Frankfurt and Hong Kong POPs which is expected to help the company meet its managed servers global demand. This is expected to take place later this year. According to the company’s CTO, there is no other company that offers a managed server with security modules, firewalls and backups for its voice network in addition to having redundant servers in place while running a PBX software.

This is what makes the PBX.fm a reliable solution for SMBs. Conexiant offers DID telephone numbers with free international toll free numbers for its wholesale telecom services. The hostedPBX solution also supports Xen and KVM for its cloud server offering and with white label private label.

Conexiant Telecom is a private wholesale VoIP services carrier company in Englewood, Colorado. It has a long technology history. It is in the process of building a datacenter in its Englewood Tech Center headquarters. The complex is 160,000 square feet.

Plex Introduces New Media Server Beta with PS3, Xbox DLNA Support

We love us some Plex here at MacLife.com, where we’ve converted an aging Mac mini into a fine home theatre server with a minimum of effort. Now that recent versions of the Plex application have separated the server software from the client software, all sorts of goodies have been coming -- such as DLNA streaming support with a new server update this week.

The wizards at Plex have announced a new Plex Media Center 0.9.6.0 beta release on Thursday which adds support for the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) streaming standard. While that may not sound so exciting in and of itself, DLNA brings a variety of new options for Plex lovers, including streaming to many HDTVs, Blu-ray players and game consoles such as the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

How Windows Server 8 Will Affect the Cloud Data Center Network

By Rich Steeves TMCnet Copy Editor

If you are facing a drought and you want to make it rain, all you need are a few clouds and some dry ice. But if you are creating a mini-cloud for your data center network, you need a few more ingredients.

Luckily, though, a recent blog post by Yigal Edery explains how Windows Server 8 can help you create the data center network architecture you need. Edery begins by explaining the traditional way to build a cloud, and then goes on to show how Windows Server 8 can make the process easier.

Usually, you would need four to five networks for your Hyper-V hosts, with separate NICs and networks for cluster traffic, live migration, storage access, out of band management and VM tenant workloads. Each of these would be physically separated and the number could be doubled if you wanted redundancy.

But, with Windows Server 8, you can simplify this set up considerably. Edery recommends two different possible approaches.

First, with 10GbE (as opposed to the more common 1GbE found in most data center networks today), you can compress your operation down into two networks. One would have the storage, live migration, clustering and manage traffic flows. The other would have all the VM tenant generated traffic. This would still allow you to apply QoS policies for native traffic and at the Hyper-V switch level, guaranteeing bandwidth for virtual machines.

The other approach would be to converge your entire network onto one NIC (News
