Friday Recap: iTranslate Voice, iCloud Beta Site, KLIK, Foxconn’s Apple HDTV Slip

The big news of the day has to be the discovery of a beta iCloud website, which has the rumor blogs grabbing up paper bags in an effort to stifle their hyperventilation. Seems as if we’ll be seeing new Reminders and Notes web apps as part of the iCloud website, but personally we’d prefer some of the old-school MobileMe settings and features to come back. Oh well, we can’t have everything -- but one thing we can have is a break for the weekend, right after you have a look at the news for this Friday, May 11, 2012.

Sprint Introduces Voice Peering to the US with EVO 4G LTE

- Alert), 1X Advanced supercharges the most basic, 2G part of Sprint's network, which happens to be the part that handles the voice calls. According to Qualcomm, 1X Advanced lets a cell site handle up to four times the number of voice callers it currently does, and lets cell sites extend voice coverage 70 percent wider than on previous 1X technology.

Sprint's Network Vision brings more than just HD Voice, it will also bring LTE (News - Alert). Although Network Vision, LTE and 1X-Advanced will start appearing on Sprint's network in mid-2012, Sparks said that the final missing pieces to enable HD Voice will appear in late 2012.

Voxware Explains Decision to Ready its Voice Picking Management Application for Android

- Alert) Android operation system.

Though it may seem a little odd, for a speech technology company that serves a b-to-b niche to work with a consumer product like Android (News - Alert), Gerrard says it's all about mobile management.

“We’ve talked to companies who are looking towards the consumer mobile computing world for inspiration as mobility becomes more important – not just for workers, but for managers, too,” said Gerrard. “‘Mobile management’ is an up and coming concept that will free managers from staying at stationary points, allowing them to move within the DC without losing access to the functionality they need to manage the operation. Managers can have their eyes on the floor and still have the capacity for action at their fingertips,” he said.

Voxware says it's less about mobile phones and more about tablet computers. With its voice picking management application now engineered to work on a wide array of tablets, customers can now enable their supervisors to walk the floor while reviewing real time graphs, alerts, and activating executable options to change parts of the work flow. Instead of waiting for technology to catch up with business ideas, warehouses can leverage new capability towards greater efficiency.

“Warehouses may not have been the first place that iPads and Android devices were intended for,” writes Gerrard. “But in technology, you cannot restrict your inspiration to the same preconceived channels of development. We know innovation can come from anywhere, and we want to prepare now for the time when Android and tablets are going to play a bigger and bigger role in warehousing,” he said.

Voxeo's Location-Based Intelligence and Voice Self-Service Make for a Safer Mobile Experience

By Nick Ruble TMCnet Contributing Writer

Through its interactive voice response (IVR) platform, Voxeo (News - Alert) has successfully implemented a means of tracking a caller’s location for voice, text and mobile web interactions. The caller’s exact location is determined by Voxeo’s location based services (LBS), making things like finding a specific store, requesting roadside assistance, or obtaining traffic information considerably more easy and safe – no need to enter data manually or download any apps.

Since Voxeo’s IVR infused location based services are compatible with all major wireless carriers across the U.S., 90 percent of the nation’s consumers will have access. Services like Yelp, Foursquare (News - Alert), and Matchbook will surely benefit from this new solution, but it also opens a whole new window of opportunity for advertising – location based advertising (LBA) to be exact. Once the user subscribes to a company’s LBA service, they will begin receiving specifically tailored advertisements on recommended products, etc. whenever they’re in the vicinity of said company. This could prove to be a superior method of advertising, considering the potential for extremely personalized marketing to subscribers based on previous purchases.

Additionally, this new solution will help out tremendously in the fight against identity fraud. Mobile devices are typically easier to hack than a PC, and manually entering information over WiFi (News

YTel's Voice Broadcast Increases Efficiency

By Rachel Ramsey, TMCnet Contributor

An effective method of marketing in the mortgage industry is getting in touch with potential customers over the phone. Voice broadcast makes it easy to increase sales leads and revenue, reduce infrastructure costs, and decrease agent hand dialing. The company provides cloud-based telephony solutions and support, and offers two types of automated dialers: predictive dialers and voice broadcast dialers.

The YTel Dialer increases efficiency up to 500 percent over dialing numbers manually. It can bypass disconnected numbers, fax machines and answering machines automatically and can even leave pre-recorded voicemails.

The dialer reaches out to customers with a 5 to 1 dialing ratio, and once a customer has been reached the YTel Dialer offers features such as taking notes, scheduling follow up calls, and separating data into customizable folders. It integrates seamlessly with most Web-based CRM systems for easy follow up and tracking of leads, and allows for live transfers, customizable caller ID’s, recording of calls, and live agent monitoring.

The voice broadcast solution powered by YTel allows users to load contact lists, upload professional messages or record one over the phone and broadcast a prerecorded message to a large amount of people per hour. It also gives the option to allow customers to connect to a live agent to make a payment or leave a voicemail.

In addition, the company also has a call tracking dashboard and 800 numbers with IVR and call routing coming soon.

The FCC has recently announced that it will now require telemarketers to acquire written permission, including electronic forms, from consumers before placing a robocall, and all robocalls must now include an automated opt-out option so consumers can instantly inform telemarketers that they no longer want to receive calls. Marketers will face a new challenge in reaching existing and prospective customers.

Collection Advisor Magazine recently released a list of its top four choices for voice broadcasting solutions in 2011. Criteria that the companies had were having dynamic real-time “Do Not Call” lists at hand, moving to the cloud, and having a full-service offering.

Tone Software's Updated Voice Management Solution Honored for Capabilities

By Carrie Schmelkin, TMCnet Web Editor

Voice management solutions provider Tone Software might be busy at Enterprise Connect (News - Alert) this week spreading the word about its latest ReliaTel Management Solution 4.0 Release, but that doesn’t mean the company didn’t take in a moment today to bask in the good news that its latest solution was just named Product of the Week by NetworkWorld.

This week, NetworkWorld commemorated Tone Software (News - Alert) for its ReliaTel Management Solution 4.0 Release, which was developed to address the needs of MSPs, integrators and enterprises. The 4.0 release optimizes operations while providing management views that bolster operational efficiency, lower costs, and improve the ROI on voice over IP (VoIP) and unified communications (UC) investments, according to company officials. At its booth, Tone Software will be performing live demonstrations of the release, specifically the new Advanced Performance Dashboards.

“The ReliaTel 4.0 Dashboards provide a unique, unified portal to not only view key operational metrics in easily digestible graphical representations, but they also provide complete alarm management, extended diagnostics, and remote access capabilities without ever leaving the portal,” Tracey Whitney, director of marketing at Tone Software, told TMCnet in a recent interview.

“ReliaTel 4.0 dashboards provide IT management with clear visibility into key operational performance trends, while directly empowering support teams to speed up response times and expedite diagnostics and resolution of issues that affect voice and network quality, performance, and service levels,” she added.

While at Enterprise Connect – a communications and collaboration trade show taking place March 26-29 in Orlando, Fla. – Tone Software is shedding light on its upgraded solution and the fact that the voice management offering can significantly streamline the workflow of how technical teams anticipate, diagnose, and resolve service-impacting issues because the solution is designed to deliver intelligent information specific to the device and issue occurring.

TMCnet Voice of the Customer Week in Review

By Tracey E. SchelmeticTMCnet Contributor
Share

It's the end of another week, and time to quickly observe the week's wrap-up of the happening in voice of the customer news.

In order to enhance the customer experience and help users gain insight into customer feedback, NICE has integrated its Interaction Management platform with its Fizzback real-time customer feedback solution. The combined power of the solutions helps users draw a parallel between voice interactions with live individual feedback. Contact centers process thousands of calls, emails and online chat sessions with customers each day and analyzing the interactions can ascertain the likes and dislikes of each one. NICE asserted that it offers a cross-channel analytics platform enabling companies to transform the valuable yet hidden information in customer interactions into real results.

If you're like most companies, you'd like to provide your customers with the best online customer service possible. But it's easier said than done: there is a plethora of technologies, functionalities, services and variations...enough to make your head spin, and it seems like getting the combination just right is a Herculean effort. Practical E-Commerce is offering a number of tips for companies looking for that “perfect storm” of technologies and services that will delight customers, making your site more “sticky” and attracting first-time customers become loyal company promoters. While some of the tips seem obvious and intuitive, too many companies fall down on providing them, believing them to be “too much trouble.”

Today's contact centers involve a sea of information that must be captured, processed, and distributed on a daily basis. Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer-centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center — audio recordings, documents, web pages, and e-mails — is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize and access.

Call centers have relied on call recording for years to protect quality of service, promote agent coaching and even adhere to industry regulations. Many of the same benefits can be extended to a variety of industries, especially when call recording is leveraged in the cloud. When the business has a number of different locations, hosted call recording may be a viable fit. An SBC Online piece this week recapped the value of the hosted call recording solution as it delivers multiple features and eliminates the up-front costs generally associated with new telephony integrations.

That's all for this week for voice of the customer news. Enjoy the weekend!
