Lastly, j2 Global announced the acquisition of the New Zealand-based business unit of Zintel Communications this week. This acquisition closely follows that of Zintel's Australian-based Communications business by j2 Global in March.

“Following the sale of our Australian business to j2 earlier this year, they are the natural home for the NZ business which also manages telecommunication services," said Zintel chairman Nick Gordon. "We have previously indicated the possibility of further divestment and this now leaves us with one trading subsidiary, Commit Services Ltd.”

TMCnet Unified Communications Week in Review

- Alert) Wireless' national cell phone recycling program, launched a new mobile tool this week, the HopeLine app, to further its goal of supporting victims of domestic violence. HopeLine works to put mobile phones in the hands of those that need them.

The HopeLine app is meant to provide crucial resources to victims of domestic violence, while spreading awareness of HopeLine's mission. As such, the app provides users with quick access to such resources as the National Domestic Violence Hotline for crisis intervention. The app also serves as a community for those looking to share their stories and provide support to other domestic violence victims.

In other news, the CME Group unveiled CME Direct Messenger, an instant messaging platform for the energy trading community, this week. Messenger is to be integrated into CME Direct, a product which offers side-by-side trading of exchange listed and over-the-counter markets.

CME Direct Messenger is based on instant messaging software developed by Pivot Inc., a company recently acquired by CME Group. The software offers improved workflow, transparency and the ability to easily exchange information, allowing for better trading decisions.

TMCnet Unified Communications Software Week in Review

- Alert) this week revealed its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2012. Total combined income was $379 million , including revenue from the company's Enterprise Wireless Solutions business, which accounted for $21 million.

“Demand for our best in class UC solutions was solid in Q2, which allowed us to exceed both revenue and earnings expectations," stated Andrew M. Miller, Polycom president and chief executive officer. "In the second half of this year, we will be launching a series of products that we believe will be game-changing and will allow us to expand our addressable market and extend our advantages versus the competition."

Lastly, Adobe Connect's enterprise solution can now be resold by Arkadin, a collaboration services provider, as stated in the terms of a new agreement. As such, Arkadin can sell the complete Adobe Connect enterprise solution.

Adobe Connect is an end-to-end Web conferencing solution meant for hosting Web meetings, eLearning seminars and other webinars. Connect is already used by organizations and corporations around the world, including the U.S. Department of Defense.

Finally, Nimbuzz (News - Alert) announced this week it opened its Chat Buddy API program to developers.

With the program developers and businesses will have access to the services' over 90 million users and can build “chat buddies” to handle tasks such as sports, movie tickets, horoscopes and classified ads.
