TMCnet's Session Border Controller Week in Review

Also this week, ZyXEL introduced its Series of 10G and Gigabit Web-Managed Switches to be used in the SMB market. Mandira Srivastava reported that due to changes in network technology the need for growth of gigabit networks is in high demand.

“As compared to basic, fast Ethernet solution, gigabit Ethernet when implemented across a network and desktop can boost performance. A new series of Web-managed 24 and 48 port 10G switches (XGS1910) and gigabit switches (GS1910) has been introduced by ZyXEL Communications (News - Alert), a provider of secure broadband networking, Internet access, connected home and routing products,” said Srivastava.

Steven Joe, executive vice president of channel business for Americas at ZyXEL explained in a press release that these switches are revolutionary and will change the way businesses operate. “ZyXEL’s new switches deliver a cost and performance breakthrough to small and medium-size businesses, as well as, the education and hospitality markets. We’re providing affordable, energy-efficient, IPv6-ready, web-managed switches with the richest L2 features available to meet our customers’ current and future mobility and cloud computing demands.”

Finally this week, Sonus revealed that it would allow service providers and enterprises to have access to its SBC 5100 Session Border Controller (SBC). Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor reported on the announcement.

“This product was orderable on a limited basis since May 22, 2012, according to SIP communications specialist Sonus Networks. The company has designed the Sonus SBC 5100 to enable enterprises and tier two/three service providers simplify their infrastructure and deploy new applications such as video and Unified Communications (News - Alert),” reported Shukla. “SBC’s enable enterprises to cut costs and deliver new feature-rich SIP-based applications that can improve enterprise productivity.”

Jason Groenjes, director of Enterprise Architecture, said it has found Sonus Network’s products to be extremely reliable and full of user-friendly features and services. “With Sonus, we are able to quickly activate new inter-connections which drive greater customer satisfaction and faster revenue generation,” said Groenjes.

China Telecom Deploys Acme Packet's Net-Net Session Director SBCs

- Alert) SBCs and Net-Net Session-aware Load Balancers across some of the cities. By deploying the Acme Packet, China Telecom will receive support for both consumer voice over IP (VoIP) and hosted enterprise unified communications (UC) services offered by the company.

“As China's largest communications service provider, China Telecom will serve as a leader in providing next-generation communications across the country through its IMS deployment,” said Tim Ziemer, vice president of North America and Asia Pacific Japan sales at Acme Packet. “Our SBCs will securely streamline China Telecom's IMS initiatives to deliver next-generation voice, video and UC services to subscribers, and also support mobile applications in the future."

China Telecom’s customers can save cost via Acme Packet's scalable, interoperable solution. China Telecom could also accelerate time-to-market its IMS services. The telecom company will also have the benefit to save operation costs by replacing legacy soft switches with the interoperable, flexible and highly scalable Net-Net Session Director.

Acme Packet's Net-Net Session Director session complies with Compliance with VoIP regulations. The SBCs also protects against malicious denial of service attacks and non-malicious overloads.

Acme is a specialist in session delivery network solutions. The company’s Net-Net product family fulfills demanding security, service assurance and regulatory requirements in service provider, enterprise and contact center networks.
