Theory.io has announced the launch of its first app on Wednesday: Projectbook is an iPad-only notebook and to-do manager that aims to help users stay organized, even when they run out of time to do it on their own.
"Projectbook holds notes, to-do lists, Word docs, PDFs, web clips, sketches, and photos together in one app, manages to-dos and projects, and automatically links related information so notes and documents can be found even without tags, folders, keywords, or an Internet connection," the company's press release explains.
"Projectbook was born from a frustration with cloud-based apps crippling my productivity one too many times," said Peter Tamte, president, Theory.io. "Mobile Internet access is often slow, unreliable, and expensive. Cloud servers go down, and I don't want to worry about paying a big subscription someday to get my notes back. With Projectbook, I can always find exactly the right notes, documents, web clips, sketches and to-do lists wherever I go, even when I forget to tag something or lose my Internet connection."
Projectbook users can email notes and to-dos directly to their notebook, clip web pages from Safari, Chrome and Firefox on computers, import web pages from Instapaper and Pocket on any device, import documents from Dropbox and synchronize their entire notebook across all devices automatically.
The iPad app deploys specialized natural language technologies to understand the meaning of content within notes, web clips, Word docs, PDF’s, and to-do lists -- turning static pages into an "active" notebook.
Projectbook for iPad is normally priced at $6.99, but is currently available in the App Store at a special introductory price of $1.99 through August 15, 2012. The 29.6MB app is compatible with the iPad 2 or new iPad running iOS 5.0 or later.
