QuickPlay Enhances Security Capabilities for its Multiscreen OpenVideo Platform

- Alert) Widevine certification.

Consumer demand for multiscreen TV and mobile video content continues to grow. QuickPlay’s new security enhancements address the security needs associated with this demand. The OpenVideo platform protects content across all stages involved, including collection, ingestion, transcoding, distribution and delivery.

Wayne Purboo, founder and CEO of QuickPlay, stated in a company press release "eMarketer (News - Alert) recently reported that the number of people viewing video content from mobile devices in the U.S. will reach 54.6 million in 2012.”

“As demand for multiscreen services continues to grow, TV service providers are faced with the complicated and costly challenge of trying to scale their services, while maintaining quality of service and meeting the stringent security demands of content providers,” he added. “By integrating our OpenVideo Platform with AuthenTec and Widevine (News - Alert), we enable service providers to speed their time to market with an easy integration path to some of the industry's most respected DRM solutions."

QuickPlay now uses AuthenTec’s (News - Alert) DRM Fusion Server to pair its OpenVideo platform with PlayReady. The move helps address any licensing, protection and monetization issues associated with delivering video on demand and/or live TV in a multiscreen setup.

The new integration with Google Widevine enables service providers to securely distribute content to more than 440 million IP-connected devices. Service providers will be able to implement DRM capabilities for video on demand and Live TV.

QuickPlay stated more new features are on the horizon in coming weeks for its OpenVideo platform.
