SIP Phones Company Panasonic Makes Big Splash at Trade Show

By Carrie Schmelkin, TMCnet Web Editor

For some companies, the Channel Partners Conference – taking place this week from March 26-29 in Las Vegas, Nev. – is a place to network at an event held exclusively for indirect sales organizations, spread the word about their new offerings and attend sessions that address that daily challenges of partners.

But for SIP phones provider Panasonic (News - Alert), the trade show gives the company a forum to shed light on so many new innovations it has brought to the market in just three short months – from its introduction of the first SIP open source-based operating system desk phone to the announcement of its soon-to-be-released UT248 SIP phone, a dynamic, executive level SIP phone.

“As with any event we attend, we are looking forward to offer a look at our full line of communications solutions and demonstrate the value our products play for businesses,” Kim Murtagh, product manager, SIP Endpoints, Panasonic System Networks Company of North America, told TMCnet. “We offer state-of-the-art SIP telephony solutions for end-users that are reliable, flexible and cost-effective. “

“Panasonic has been attending Channel Partners for three years and participating in Channel Partners allows us to meet face-to-face with customers and explain to them the true value of Panasonic SIP communication solutions and discuss with them the upcoming technology trends that can help support their business need,” she added. One of Panasonic’s main goals at the event is to connect with its existing and new customers and discuss its products and the overall business solutions. By meeting face to face with customers, Panasonic hopes to gain additional insight into the communications wants and needs of end-users, Murtagh said.

Also at the event, the SIP end points enabler had some exciting news to share as today the company announced that its Panasonic SIP KX-TGP500 Phone (News - Alert) System, which offers Internet HD VoIP voice calls along with conventional business phone functionality to SMBs and enterprises, has received interoperability certification from Star2Star Communications (News - Alert). The integration will add more credibility to the Panasonic SIP KX-TGP500 and help the Japanese electronics giant further capture the DECT cordless telephone market, according to company officials.

Visitors to the Panasonic booth will also get a first look of Panasonic’s new KX-UT248 Executive Desk Phone, which will be launching next month.

Panasonic’s latest SIP phone innovation boasts a number of benefits including six lines, a 4.4-inch dynamic screen, soft keys labels so that you can program 24 buttons in the phone, and support for an XML interface so that Panasonic’s hosted provider and open source dealer customers can co-brand the phone if they wish. Moreover, the latest phone offers two Gigabit ports in the back, support for built-in Bluetooth, a 2.5 millimeter headset jack, and a built-in electronic hook switch.

So what overarching message does Panasonic hope to spread at the event?

“Our SIP portfolio has grown tremendously in the past year and we are continually adding new products that enhance our overall product lineup,” Murtagh said. “We want customers to see the breadth of business communications solutions which Panasonic offers and realize the reliability, flexibility and afford ability which our solutions offer.”
