Nokia Introduces Lumia 920 with PureMotion HD+ Display Technology
Nokia has announced the next phase of its Windows Phone strategy during a media event held jointly with Microsoft on Wednesday morning in New York City. Following a recap by CEO Stephen Elop, Nokia vice president Jo Harlow took the stage to kick off the day's announcements.
As rumored in recent days, the Nokia Lumia 920 is indeed real, and Harlow calls it "the most innovative smartphone in the world." Including a PureView camera for taking the best pictures and videos with the advanced Nokia mapping experience, the Lumia 920 also introduces wireless charging to the product line.
Harlow spent a good deal of time touting the Lumia 920's PureView technology, which offers major improvements to how photos and video are shot, including shutter and stabilization enhancements. Nokia Maps, Transport and Drive are also being upgraded with offline maps as a key feature of the Lumia experience, adding Nokia City Lens to see the names of businesses just by pointing the smartphone camera at any location.

Windows Phone 8 Handsets Expected for Nokia World Next Month
Bloomberg is reporting that Nokia is planning to unveil its first Windows Phone 8 handsets at the company's annual Nokia World conference next month -- mere days before Apple is rumored to roll out the next iPhone at a media event widely expected on September 12.
While Nokia's Lumia 900 debuted back in April to many rave reviews and enthusiasm from exclusive U.S. carrier AT&T, the report notes that the once-mighty Finnish handset maker may be fighting just to keep its flagship smartphone front and center in the wake of news that existing Lumia models will not be upgradable to Microsoft's latest Windows Phone 8 operating system.
While Nokia officials declined to comment on their plans for Nokia World, the company is expected to reveal one or more new Lumia smartphones at the event, which kicks off September 5, with the devices going on sales before the lucrative year-end shopping season.
The company has lost more than 90 percent of its market share since the January, 2007 debut of the iPhone, and Nokia has lost money for the last five quarters in a row, with its debt now rated as "junk" by three of the largest credit rating firms.
However, at least one analyst believes Nokia can ride out the storm.

Nokia Lumia 900 Launch Finds a Wasteland of Stores Closed for Easter
The New York Times is reporting that the new Nokia Lumia 900 launched as scheduled on Easter Sunday, April 8 -- but the debut became something of an Easter egg hunt itself, given that almost all of AT&T’s retail stores were closed, as were Microsoft and Best Buy outlets. Ma Bell started accepting preorders for the new Windows Phone handset more than a week ago, and those orders were delivered last Friday, April 6.

An iPhone 4S User’s Weekend with the Nokia Lumia 900
Despite having an iPhone since the original model launched in 2007, curiosity sometimes drives us into the arms of competing products -- especially ones as well-hyped as Nokia’s new Lumia 900, which many predict could be the first real shot Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform has for success.
While curiosity may kill the cat, it certainly didn’t do us any harm after swapping our iPhone 4S for the new Nokia Lumia 900 last weekend. It’s a big launch for the Finnish cell phone giant, whose brand has waned significantly here in the United States, but also for Microsoft, whose Windows Phone platform has yet to gain traction against iOS and Android after nearly two years.

Initial Nokia Lumia 900 Reviews: No iPhone Slayer?
The first reviews of the new Nokia Lumia 900 hit the web on Tuesday night ahead of its release this Easter weekend, and the response is fairly mixed. The handset is supposed to be a turning point for Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, which hasn’t made much headway in the market since its introduction two years ago, largely due to the popularity of the iPhone and a flood of Android devices.
A big part of the Windows Phone dilemma is lack of carrier support here in the U.S., but that’s changed with this week’s Lumia 900 release. Having lost its exclusivity on the iPhone, AT&T is pushing Nokia’s latest harder than anything they’ve done in the past, particularly since the Lumia 900 runs on their fledgling 4G LTE network.
On the positive side of the coin, Gizmodo called the Lumia 900
