LexisNexis Unveils Identity Theft Protection Programs

LexisNexis (News - Alert) Risk Solutions today unveiled a pair of new Multi-Factor Authentication systems geared toward keeping identities safe from theft across a variety of channels. With identity theft case numbers growing at an alarming rate, and a series of high-profile attacks recently occurring, the need for improved systems in identity protection is clear and present.

LexisNexis was already well-known for its slate of identity protection systems, such as the Flex ID system, the Instant Authenticate system, and TrueID, a system that required fingerprint biometrics to fully accept an identity. LexisNexis then stepped up the game twofold with the introduction of its two newest systems.

First, it introduced the One Time Password system, in which a single-use alphanumeric code was sent to a user's device of choice that had been previously determined. The code could be sent via SMS text message, by phone, or by email for use at the location needed.

Then, the company brought out the Voice Biometrics system, which serves as a voiceprint identification system using key features of a speaker's voice. Voiceprint authentication features depend on portions of a speakers voice that are every bit as unique as those of a fingerprint, and allow for very stringent identity verification.

LexisNexis will be offering both One Time Password and Voice Biometrics as part of its IVR On Demand systems. And while the IVR On Demand system is itself a potent application, it's not the end of LexisNexis' offerings, rather just the beginning. LexisNexis offers a variety of services in investigation, screenings, fraud detection, and receivables management as well, giving a wide field of potential users the best possible chance to find and prevent fraud, identity theft, and other problems before they become serious issues.

Given that the Javelin Strategy and Research firm's annual Identity Fraud Report puts the total amount of fraud committed in 2011 at $18 billion, it should be clear why a vigorous and vigilant response to the issue is required. Multiple forms of user authentication will go a long way toward protecting valuable information from unauthorized access, and eventual use.

Minuteman Offers Instant Rebates: Get Your Power Protection Units While They Are Hot!

If you’ve been holding out on purchasing your next power protection unit – secretly hoping that you can hold out until December when Santa can bring you a nice big stocking stuffer instead – think again because all through April Minuteman UPS/Para Systems (News - Alert) is offering instant rebates on some of its most valued products.

Starting now, Minuteman –a provider of power protection units – is promoting instant rebates on its best mission critical UPSs including the EnterprisePlus and Endeavor Series UPSs.

“We chose to feature the EnterprisePlus and Endeavor Series because we feel that these units provide a tremendous combination of features and value not typically found in these higher levels of UPSs,” Duston Nixon, marketing communications specialist for Minuteman, told TMCnet. “These units are ideal for mission-critical applications, and we want to help show that this doesn’t have to mean breaking the budget to have ample power protection.”

The Endeavor Series, a true on-line rack/wall/tower UPSs for sensitive electronic equipment and critical servers, network devices, and phone systems, boasts double-conversion, true since wave output, and zero transfer time for mission critical apps. The power protection unit combines its double-conversion technology with extended runtime capability in a versatile case design, according to company officials. It comes with a three-year warranty and five-year extended warranty.

Minuteman’s EnterprisePlus Series, also eligible for an instant rebate, is a line interactive sine wave rack/wall/tower UPS for sensitive electronic equipment and critical servers, network devices, and phone systems. It offers true sine wave output and versatile configuration options for a full range of applications, officials said. It also boasts automatic voltage regulation, extended runtime, and three- and five-year warranties.

Instant rebates are available on both products through April 30.

While everyone from retail stores to IT departments to education institutions might be lining up to purchase Minuteman’s power protection units, the two products eligible for instant rebates have typically found a sweet spot with the small and medium-sized business, according to Nixon.

“Like the rest of our product line, the EnterprisePlus and Endeavor Series UPSs are perfectly suited for small to medium-sized businesses and organizations such as schools and hospitals,” Nixon said. “Administrators in these facilities must face tight budgets, and often make sacrifices in certain areas to meet those demands. Our products allow them to get the features and protection they want without compromising in other areas to get them.”
