Gamelot released an official The Dark Knight Rises game on the App Store Friday, perfectly timed for the theatrical debut of Christopher Nolan's final chapter of the Batman trilogy.
"After being gone for eight years, Bruce Wayne gets back into action as Batman," the app description teases. "Waiting for him are the mysterious Selina Kyle, and Bane, a lethal adversary on a crusade to tear apart Batman’s legacy piece by piece. Meet all of Batman’s allies and regain your strength to protect Gotham City from Bane. Become completely immersed in the story thanks to likenesses of all the movie’s main characters like Catwoman, Lucius Fox and Commissioner Gordon."
Judging from the screenshots on the App Store, The Dark Knight Rises looks like a very worthy followup to Gameloft's recent The Amazing Spider-Man game, allowing players to journey into "dozens of missions plus random events" to "make you feel all the thrill of being a superhero" (presumably, without any of the Bruce Wayne-style brooding and suffering that comes afterward).
The Dark Knight Rises is now available for $6.99 from the App Store; the universal app is an 819MB download compatible with all devices running iOS 4.0 or later.
