After last week's tease about something "massive" coming to mobile, Marvel is back, this time with an Avengers game teaser posted to YouTube. "MARVEL XP BRIEFING: A mysterious energy pulse has hit Earth and knocked out communications around the globe," the video description reads. "Prominent villainous organizations, such as HYDRA and A.I.M., have taken the opportunity to attack. S.H.I.E.L.D is calling all S.H.I.E.L.D agents and superhumans to report for active duty." The site also teases a link back to the Marvel XP Facebook page, although it doesn't yet provide too many clues as to what the company has it store for us.
Now here's a spot of good news for this sleepy Monday: According to Engadget, Warner Brothers has started extending the expiration dates for its Digital Copy titles until May 17, 2017. Tech of the Hub first discovered the change on some of their own DVD or Blu-ray discs whose Digital Copy offer had expired more than two years ago. Although some users were able to now use their codes straight away, others (including us) had to contact WB support to do so. In one case using The Final Destination Blu-ray, the original code came back as invalid via iTunes, but we were able to get a new one immediately by entering our name, email address and original code on the website. Several other Blu-ray discs that showed the new 2017 expiration date online were not so lucky, and we'll have to wait up to five days to hear back from support. Finally, one disc, Sex & The City: The Movie (hey, don't judge!) continues to show a 2009 expiration date, even on WB's website, so this trick may not work in all cases. In any event, it's quite handy to be able to revive otherwise dead codes, especially now that these titles can be accessed via iTunes in the Cloud.
Crisp Unleashes Sci-Fi Adventure Game Time TrapSHAPE pinged us today to let readers know that the company's Crisp App subsidiary has just released a new universal iOS game called Time Trap, which attempts to "solve the mystery of a post-apocalyptic world and find out why a journalist was found missing." The $1.99 sci-fi adventure features some pretty slick graphics judging from the app description, and promises a unique atmosphere and ambient music to match. The 175MB app is now available in the App Store and requires at least an iPhone 3GS, third-gen iPod touch or any iPad running iOS 4.0 or later.
Apple Now Most Valuable Publicly Traded Company in HistoryIn case you haven't heard, Apple hit another significant milestone today, with MacRumors noting that the company now has the most valuable publicly traded stock in U.S. history, trumping rival Microsoft who first accomplished that feat in December, 1999. Apple's stock price closed at $666.15 on Monday, giving the iPhone maker a $623.5 billion market capitalization -- although adjusting Microsoft's $618.89 market cap in 1999 for today's inflation, Apple would have to hit roughly $842.5 billion in today's dollars, a feat that no longer seems unrealistic considering their meteoric rise in recent years.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 Arriving Early 2013The folks at PopCap have announced a sequel to their wildly successful Plants vs. Zombies game is coming in late spring of 2013, a date that seems awfully far off to be making an announcement in August, but die-hard fans will surely have something to look forward to. Indeed, the new game promises "a bevy of new features, settings and situations designed to delight the franchise's tens of millions of fans around the world." And so, the wait begins...
