5 Smartphones Giving the iPhone a Run for Its Money in China

China is now the world's largest smartphone market, and the race to see which manufacturer can lead the charge to the top of the great wall of Chinese smartphone sales is on. Particularly if you can make phones that look just like the iPhone, and Apple has not gotten around to suing anyone in China--yet.

Last week, market research firm IDC emailed analysts with the latest data on who was leading the pack, and the results were not good for Cupertino. Arch-courtroom rival Samsung holds the top spot with 19 percent of the market. Apple, after launching the iPhone 4S this past January to riot-inducing excitement and immediately grabbing 19 percent of the market, has now fallen to fourth place, clinging to a 10 percent marketshare, with users desperately waiting for the new iPhone to be released.

So who is applying all of this heat in the Chinese smartphone marketplace? A bunch of manufacturers you may have never heard of with a crew of "cheap and cheerful" devices you might not have known existed.

So let's take a look some of the cooler devices that are taking Apple's Chinese lunch money.
