TMCnet's HD Video Conferencing Week in Review

- Alert) announced its survey results show that many business owners plan to work remotely over the summer. Cisco surveyed 500 small businesses asking the owners what their plans are this summer. The results showed that on average, owners plan to work remotely at least 18 days throughout the course of the summer.

Kayvon Ghoreshi, TMCnet contributing writer, reported that about 15 percent of the owners plan on working remotely for almost a month and said a lot of it has to do with the industry. “The survey also showed that 23 percent of respondents have businesses that rely on telecommunications regardless of the season, and many prefer working remotely to avoid some of the hassles inherent in a normal office environment,” said Ghoreshi.

Glenn Bray, senior director of the Cloud Collaboration Applications Technology Group at Cisco, said these results show a new trend in business. “The results demonstrate the extent to which telephone and video conferencing have become ingrained in the work habits of small business owners, since nearly half of the survey respondents say traditional, in-person meetings are become less relevant,” said Bray. “It’s clear small business owners need to stay ‘connected’ to the office even during the summer vacation season, and so we’ve given them the tools to not only meet, but also easily and efficiently manage content relevant for those meetings wherever they happen to be.”
